Editing and Duplicating Products

As your store grows, you will inevitably need to update product details, change costs, or introduce new variations. Foliodia makes this easy while protecting your historical sales data.

Overview

Editing a product updates its details (like cost price or low stock threshold) for all future orders. Duplicating a product allows you to quickly clone a successful item to create a variation without starting from scratch.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Editing a Product

  1. Go to Products in your dashboard.
  2. Click on the product you wish to edit.
  3. Update the necessary fields (e.g., Name, Cost Price, Stock).
  4. Click Save Product.

Duplicating a Product

  1. Go to Products.
  2. Locate the product you want to copy.
  3. Click the three dots (menu icon) next to the product.
  4. Select Duplicate.
  5. A new draft product will appear. Edit the cloned details (e.g., change "Red T-Shirt" to "Blue T-Shirt") and click Save Product.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Never Overwrite Products: If you stop selling "Running Shoes" and start selling "Winter Boots", do not edit the "Running Shoes" product to rename it. Instead, create a brand new product for the boots. Overwriting drastically different products can confuse your analytics and fulfillment workflows.
  • Images: If you duplicate a product, make sure to upload a new image for the variation so your customers aren't confused at checkout.

Common Problems

I edited a product's name, but my old orders still show the old name. This is a feature, not a bug! Foliodia takes a snapshot of your product exactly as it was when the customer bought it. This protects you from disputes by preserving exactly what the customer agreed to purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I delete a product instead of editing it? We recommend archiving products instead of deleting them. Deleting a product removes it completely, while archiving hides it from your active list but keeps its data intact for your Analytics.
